April 2009
What a busy couple of weeks. With most of the chromed parts now arrived, the stainless spokes in hand and even the repaired silencers (with chromed headers) it was time to get a rolling frame together. Don put in a considerable number of hours and the bike is transformed. |

The engine in the frame
With the engine now assembled, painted and polished, we've put the sidecovers back on (with stainless allen heads) and slotted the bottom end into the frame. The guards are now on - as you can see - so we had to put a little red on as well to see how it looked. |

The engine close up
Sorry about the blurry phone photo but you can still get the idea. She's looking very smart. The badges on the red sidecover are temporary - I understand I can buy new badges from Badge Replicas. Can you see the tiny brake light switch just under the swing arm nut? If you are restoring a 2C look after these! Exactly the same switch is used under the motor for the neutral light. On most bikes the switches have been knocked and broken. They are very fragile. |

A rolling engine and frame at last!
A couple of days spent wheel lacing (thanks Don) and suddenly the wheels are on and we have a rolling bike. The headers have been fitted and also the rear tail lamp assembly. With the wheels on the bike is now up on its main stand and not resting on the frame rails. We are starting to get an idea of the dimensions again and a glimpse of the final product. |

Red bits on - temporarily
Well, who could resist resting the tank and sidecovers on the bike just to see what it looked like? We couldn't! Wow!

Silencers on and .......she sparks!
The silencers have been fitted - and do they look good! The electrical wiring from the flywheel magneto has been brought up to the CDI box (new wiring of course) and the bike kicked over. We must admit to a little surprise when fat blue sparks jumped across the spark plugs. That was the easy part - now for the battery/lighting side of the equation.
